Creation of "R" Communication
START Lab Inc. (SL) was established in 1989 as a joint venture between Sony Corp. and Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd.
In 1989, SL has introduced the world's first CD-R into the market which developed by Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. in Japan. Since then, SL has been focusing on providing the various type of optical recording media products into the Market.
With the passage of 20 years since its foundation, the company is systematically going through a phase of major transformation at a time when society is going through turbulent times due to rapid advancement of digital technologies and the arrival of broadband network era.
START Lab does not look at recordable disc media merely as a means for storing data but as a means for offering new communications services by combining the data with a variety of contents. The company is determined to fully exploit the possibilities of realizing the so-called ''R'' communication revolution.
